Approach

Thredgoode Brewery wanted a brand identity that honored its Southern storytelling roots while feeling relevant to today’s craft beer market. The name, inspired by Idgie Threadgoode from Fried Green Tomatoes, called for a design that could balance heritage and modernity — approachable, memorable, and versatile enough to scale across packaging, taproom signage, and merchandise.

Solution

The identity combined modern-day clarity with vintage-inspired charm. A bold, contemporary logo system was paired with typefaces and textures that nod to mid-century Americana. The color palette brought together warm, earthy tones with crisp, modern contrasts, creating a look that feels both timeless and fresh.

Supporting elements included custom illustrations and adaptable graphic motifs, designed to give the brewery flexibility for cans, tap handles, merchandise, and event branding. The overall look ensured that Thredgoode felt at home on today’s shelves while carrying forward the character of a story-rich Southern brand.

Impact

The mixed modern-vintage identity helped Thredgoode stand apart in a saturated craft beer market, attracting a diverse audience of both craft beer newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts. The packaging gained strong visibility in retail, while the storytelling-driven visuals resonated in taprooms and on social media. The result was a cohesive, memorable brand that captured both the heritage and forward-looking spirit of the brewery.
