KAOH Media is the nation's leading public relations and public affairs firm specializing in clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, and ESG-driven investments.

CASE STUDY: KAOH MEDIA

SERVICE:  UX + UI + VISUAL SYSTEM

YEAR: 2022

Approach

KAOH Media came to the table with a clear mission but a website that wasn't delivering it with authority or clarity. I started with a full content and brand audit — evaluating what was working, what was creating friction, and how their digital presence measured up to other players in the ESG and clean energy space.

Through direct conversations with their leadership team, I identified a core tension: KAOH had deep sector expertise and a genuinely differentiated value proposition, but their site wasn't reflecting that authority or guiding the right audiences to the right information. The challenge wasn't cosmetic — it was structural. Translating a complex, multi-sector offering spanning solar, wind, hydrogen, carbon capture, and more into something immediately legible for developers, regulators, investors, and community partners required both strategic clarity and disciplined design thinking.

Solution

 

I led the site from the ground up — architecture, visual system, and execution. The new design opens with a simplified hero that immediately communicates KAOH's core value proposition: Accelerating Approval. Earning Trust. Powering Progress. Every subsequent decision was made in service of that line.

 

I introduced sector-specific visual cues — iconography, badges, and color-coded content categories — so each page could stand independently while reinforcing the larger brand system. Typography and color were refined for hierarchy and legibility, balancing high-contrast neutrals with deliberate accent tones for calls-to-action. Content-heavy sections like case studies and service offerings were restructured into card-based grid layouts that let visitors scan quickly and self-direct. Navigation and mobile responsiveness were prioritized throughout — this audience doesn't have patience for friction.

The result was a site that felt as credible and precise as the work KAOH actually does.

Impact

Post-launch, KAOH Media reported meaningful improvements in lead conversions and time-on-site across key pages. Stakeholders noted the site finally matched the quality and precision of their work in the field — a signal that the strategic intent landed.

More telling than any metric: KAOH has retained Larkspur for ongoing brand and digital work since the 2022 launch. We're now in our sixteenth year working together. That kind of continuity doesn't happen unless the work consistently earns it.

The platform was built to scale — enabling their team to add new sectors, case studies, and regional offerings without breaking design consistency. It's a system, not a one-off.
